"WE ARE SATISFIED FOR THE RESULT OF THE LAST OPINION POOL ABOUT DRUGS".
Prague, July 6th, 1992. Slavomil Hubalek, spokesman of the former Health Minister of Czech Republic, declared that it's known that Transnational Radical Party is the longa manus of Italian mafia (Telegraf, 3.7.92), also affirming that legalization of drugs, such as methadon programs, are in the interest of mafia, that tries any way to increase its trafics.
The fact that a Ministery had such a naive person like its spokesman it's bad, but it doesn't involve us Radicals directly.
What does involve us is the slander said by Mr. Hubalek.
Hubalek thinks that mafia (together with Radical Party and Milton Friedman, The Economist and George Shultz, and also very important Czechoslovak politicians, now in very high position in the Government) is pushing for legalization of drugs, i.e. for putting drugs under state control: it's unbelievable, as it is evident.
Of course Mr. Hubalek has the right to say whatever he thinks, or dreams during the night; but he has not any right to slander anybody. It's a crime, that must be punished.
We have charged our lawyers to denounce Mr. Hubalek to the tribunal, asking a very big compensation.
As it is known (THAT is known), Radical Party Transnational and Transparty counts among its members more than 14 Ministers and 230 MPs all over the world (even in Czechoslovakia), including Prime Ministers, belonging to dozens of national political parties, such as Nobel Prize winners. Is it mafia?
Well, we must bring this case to the tribunal, even to defend indirectly the reputation of President Havel, who wanted to receive in the Prague Castle, in may 1990, a high level RP delegation, including those dozens of radicals who knew Czechoslovak prisons because of demonstrations for democracy against the old authoritarian regime.
In the same article published on Telegraf, it was said that, according to a recent opinion pool, 35% of asked citizens would agree with controlled distribution of drugs, while 56% would be against.
We have to say that we are satisfied for such a result, even if it has not been clarified how the pool has been run: if we consider that mass-media speak about the proposal of legalization mostly to attach it, the result is not bad at all.
If the Parliament is a faithful mirror of the society, we can count on more than one third of MPs...
