DEATH PENALTY - LETTER SENT TO THE PRESIDENT OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO BY MEMBERS OF ITALIAN PARLIAMENT

Rome, November 9, 1992

HIS EXCELLENCY NOOR HASSANALI

Office of the President

Port of Spain,

Trinidad and Tobago

His Excellency,

We undersigned, members of the Italian Parliament, wish to express our deep consternation at the attempt to resume executions after 13 years without executions.

We urge the commutation of the death sentences imposed to Gayman Jurisingh, Peter Matthews and Faizool Mohammed or, at the very least, that they be granted a stay of execution.

We appeal to You not to take such a retrograde step, especially at the time when more countries are abolishing the death penalty.

Yours respectfully

on. Emma BONINO on. Marco PANNELLA

on. Roberto CICCIOMESSERE on. Elio VITO

on. Marco TARADASH on. Pio RAPAGNA'
