As members of World Women Parliamentarians for peace, a nongovernmental organisation with over 600 members from 60 nations we wish to convey to You our deep dismay at the arrest of Benazir Bhutto, leader of the Pakistani People's Party.

We strongly support the right of all people to associate and to demonstrate peacefully. We understand that there was no violence involved until the intervention of the police.

In solidarity with Ms. Bhutto and in defence of internationally aknowledged human rights we sincerely petiton you to free Ms. Bhutto and demonstrate that yours is a just and fair regime.
