MOLDOVA: DELEGATION OF THE RADICAL PARTY WAS RECEIVED BY MIRCEA SNEGUR, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC

(Chisinau, June 2, 1993) - The delegation of the Radical Party composed by Andrea Tamburi, member of General Council of the Radical Party, Nikolaj Hramov, member of General Council, and Vladimir Ivanov, Radical militant from Kiev who coordinates RP's activity in Moldova, was received today by Mr. Mircea Snegur, President of the Republic of Moldova.

During the meeting which has continued 45 minutes, Radical delegation have informed Moldovian president about the Radical Party's initiatives, in particularly about the struggle for reform of international law and founding the permanent UN tribune on war crimes; about campaign against death penalty (and in particularly, about initiative for the excluding of article about death penalty from the draft of new Moldovian constitution); about activity of Radical Party in Moldova since August 1992 till now and about Radical work to organize an inter-parliamentarian process on the conflict in Transnistria.

Mr. Snegur, from his side, has greeted the fact that many very important Moldovian politicians and deputies are now members of RP and underlined, that noble ideas of the Radical Party are absolutely identical to the policy of Moldovian President and government. He has asked the leadership of the Radical Party to use its international influence and authority in order to provide an effective intervention from side of international community for solving the conflict in Transnistria. Moldovian president has asked also to organize a political pressure to deliver so called "group of Ilascu" which is now under trial on accusation in anti-state activity in Tiraspol, center of self-declared "Republic of Transnistria", to the legal bodies of Moldova.

Press agency Moldova Press, TV news program Mesager, main newspaper of the country have reported about the meeting with Mircea Snegur.

It was the first meeting of a Radical delegation with a president in all the ex-Soviet republics.
