INDRO MONTANELLI SIGNED TODAY.

DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENTS IN CUBA BACK THE INITIATIVE.

While in New York the U.N. is almost clandestinely appointing the eleven judges of the international tribunal that will judge the crimes committed in ex Yugoslavia as of 1991, the international petition addressed to the upcoming General Assembly of the United Nations is meeting with support by authoritative personalities.

In addition to the adhesions of parliamentarians from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, from the representative assemblies of Latin America, the initiative now has the support of 100 Italian parliamentarians, members of the Pds, Psi, Pri, Pli, Greens, PSdi, Rete and Lista Pannella.

Notwithstanding a discontinuous coverage of the tragedy underway in ex Yugoslavia and the public's complete ignorance of the fact that the heinous crimes committed in the Balkans might not go unpunished, the Italian press is largely joining the appeal promoted by the Radical Party.

Indro Montanelli, Federico Orlando, Giancarlo Bosetti, Saverio Vertone, Natalia Aspesi, Gian Antonio Stella, Gigi Melega, Irene Bignardi, Adele Cambria, Renzo Foa, Gianni Minoli, Adriana Treves, Giorgio Bocca, Marco Ventura, Toni Fontana, Massimo Loche, Michele Mangiafico, Massimo Gramellini, Maria Laura Rodotà, Maurizio Costanzo, Lello Bersani, Filippo Landi, Osvaldo Bevilacqua, Giuseppe Buonavolontà, Piero Vigorelli, Ciro Sbailò, Paolo Longo, Arturo Guatelli, Antonio Ghirelli, Andrea Di Robilant, Paolo Brogi, Guido Barendson and many others.

Among the personalities who have recently joined the list are:

Leonid Pliusc, mathematician, ex Ukrainian dissident, philosopher Giacomo Marramao, sociologist Luigi Manconi, don Luigi Ciotti, industrialist Sergio Pininfarina, writer Domenico Rea, literary critic Geno Pampaloni, writer Barbara Alberti, ex RAI chairman Walter Pedullà, the presidency of Arci Nova, Carmelo Bene, Dario Fo, Franca Rame, Lindsay Kemp and Nicola Pietrangeli.

The Movements for democracy in Cuba have in the meanwhile massively endorsed the appeal for ex Yugoslavia. Among the personalities, the president of the Cuban democratic Association, the president of the "Mariana Grajales" humanitarian association, the president of the youth movement for democracy, Rolando Oscar Pages Navarro, president of the Cuban party for human rights, and vice president of the Cuban democratic coalition.
