(Moscow, 1993 December 15) - The press conference on the results of the Constitutuent Congress of the Hands Off Cain Campaign (Brussels, December 9-10) has being organized today by the Radical Party in Moscow Hotel Peking. The press conference was presided by Mamuka Tsagareli, vice-president of the Radical Party General Council. The following persons participated: Igor Bezrukov, lawyer, deputy chairman of the legislative commission in the administration of the president of Russian Federation and member of the Executive Council of the Hands Off Cain Campaign; Konstantin Kedrov, columnist of Izvestija newspaper, who pays the particular attention to the problem of death penalty; Andrea Tamburi, member of the Radical Party Secretariat; Nikolaj Khramov, member of Radical Party General Council.
Mamuka Tsagareli delivered the detailed report on the Constitutuent Congress of the Hands Off Cain Campaign. Andrea Tamburi explained the role of the Radical Party in launching of this Campaign. The intervention of Igor Bezrukov was dedicated to the problems and perspectives of the abolitionist movement in Russia. Konstantin Kedrov highlighted the moral ethical aspect of the struggle against death penalty. Nikolaj Khramov informed the journalists about Radical campaign against death penalty in the Soviet Union and new independent states that started with the Appeal of August 1991 and goes on till the last campaign for the removal of the death penalty from the new constitution of Moldova.
The journalists from Interfax news agency, Commersant Daily, Inostranets, Radio Liberty, Radio Ekho Moskvy, Radio Radicale and Moskovskij Komsomolets daily newspaper were presented.
On the same evening the reports about the press conference were broadcasted by Radio Liberty and Radio Ekho Moskvy.
