UKRAINE: OPEN ASSEMBLY OF THE RADICAL PARTY IN THE KIEV CINEMA HOUSE. PARTICIPATED: BOGDAN LISOVICH, VICE-HEAD OF THE UN OFFICE IN UKRAINE; EVGENIJ PASCHENKO, CHAIRMAN OF THE "UKRAINE-CROATIA" SOCIETY; NADIR ALISHOV, CHAIRMAN OF THE AZERBAIGAN CULTURAL SOCIETY IN KIEV; NINA ILJINA, ACTRESS, PRESIDENT OF CINEMA ACTORS' GUILD.

On Saturday, January, 8th an open Assembly of the Radical Party was hold. It was devoted to the discussion of possible ways to realize Radical Party proposals formulated in the report "Lines of political initiatives" developed by Emma Bonino, Secretary of the party, and adopted by the General Council (Sofia, 15-18 July 1993) as a program for RP actions in 1993-94.

The meeting was chaired by Vladimir Ivanov, member of the General Council, who in the same time is one of the founders of the Green Party of Ukraine. The meeting started with the intervention made by Bogdan Lisovich, Vice-Head of UN office in Ukraine. He covered in details the problem of the establishment of the Ad Hoc International Tribunal for the war crimes commited in former Yugoslavia.

Nikolaj Khramov, member of the General Council, informed the participants of the Assembly about two last transnational campaignes - for the establishment of the Tribunal for war crimes in former Yugoslavia and for the elimination of death penalty in the draft of new Constitution of Moldova. This last initiative that lasts already for several months, is addressed to the new Moldovian Parliament that will be elected on February, 27th, 1994. More than 3,000 signatures of the different countries citizens are already collected and for a moment the petition campaign is going on. N.Khramov also defined concretely some other directions for Ukraine lined up in the "Lines of political initiatives". He stressed in particular that the next step after the establishment of the tribunal for former Yugoslavia must be an establishment of a permanent UN tribunal for war crimes.

Evgenij Paschenko paid attention to the opening of the Ukrainian Consulate in Belgrad in December of the last year. The fact contradicts UN recommendations on the reduction of existing diplomatic representatives in Federal Republic Yugoslavia (Serbia amd Montenegro) and abstain from the opening of new ones. Taking into acoount the absence of similiar Ukraine representatives in Chroatia and Slovenia with whom Ukraine have already established diplomatic relations, the above mentioned fact is especially bizzare. E.Paschenko called the Ukrainian radicals to resist the pro-Serbian lobby in Ukraine and to realize the initiative for the recognition of Macedonia by Ukraine that is still recognized only by few states, among CIS countries - only by Russia.

Nadir Ismail-ogly Alishov, the Chairman of the Azerbaigan Cultural Society in Kiev, spoke about the policy of information censorship concerning the war conducted by Armenia on the Azerbaigan territory. He called the Radical Party to organize a pressure campaign on the international organisations and national governments to stop the Armenian agression against Azerbaigan that have already occupied nearly one third of its territory. Security Council Resolutions demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from all the occupied Azerbaigan regions must be fulfiled, and the Karabakh problem must be solved on the basis of the principles of the international law, territorial integrity of all the states in the region, untolerance of the territories capture by means of violence and "ethnical cleanings", and also international guarantees for the national minorities rights. N.Alishov also said that he joins the Radical Party for the 1994th because this party fights for the new international order

, for the right for life and the life of law.

Vladimir Ivanov, member of the General Council, speaking on the problem of energy production in Ukraine, notified its extreme unefficiency and absence of any attempts to update it, and also absence of any programs on alternative sources of the energy. Ivanov also stressed the neccessity to consider a possible role of the Donbass coal industry that now turned into a hostage of a national and international nuclear lobby.

During the assembly in Kiev Cinema House 11 new members have joined the Radical Party for 1994.
