Moscow, August 22, 1995

The manifestation of Moscow members of the transnational Radical Party and Anti-militarist Radical Association (ARA) for the immediate adhesion of the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina to the European Union has taken place today in front of the E.U. mission in Moscow. Ten Moscow activists of Radical Party have been participating in the demonstration (among them Nikolaj Khramov, coordinator of Radical Party in Russia and secretary of ARA; Igorj Bezrukov, ex-member of Supreme Soviet of RSFSR and member of Amnesty Commission by Russian president; Mihail Chertilov, member of Coordination Committee of the Esperanto Radikala Asocio). Members of the Democratic Union and Anti-fascist Youth League have also taken part (for what concerns the last organization, it has formally joined Radical initiative, being represented by its secretary Elena Lebedeva).

During one hour demonstrators under two flags - of Radical Party with symbolic face of Mahatma Gandhi and blue with golden stars European banner - have stood in front of the mission's doors with following slogans both in Russian and English: "Adhesion of Bosnia to the EU now!", "Europe dies or rebirths in Sarajevo", "'Peace' on Balkans at the expense of Bosnia? No, thanks!", "Czechoslovakia 1938 = Bosnia 1995", "State Duma accomplishes in war crimes", "Karadzic, Mladic, Milosevic: handcuffs and to the Hague - quickly!", "Democracy and peace also for Serbs", "No negotiations with Milosevic", "Not for all the Russians war criminals are brothers", "NTV: an independent television???"

Representatives of the demonstrators (Nikolaj Khramov and Elena Lebedeva) accompanied by journalists from Interfax and Express Chronicle agencies were received by charge d'affair Andreas Papandopoulos, the third secretary Dr Michael Kuske and associate of the political section Samantha de Bendern.

During the meeting Nikolaj Khramov and Elena Lebedeva handed over to the diplomats text of the Radical Party's appeal for the immediate adhesion of Bosnia to the EU, list of more than 500 members of parliaments from several tens of nations (including 87 members of European Parliament), as well as about 400 signatures of Russian and foreign citizens collected by Radical members on street tables in Moscow in the framework of the Ten-day Mobilization for Bosnia conducted since August 12. Mr Khramov and Mrs Lebedeva informed about Radical Party's international campaign for adhesion of Bosnia to the EU, underlining that it is not a matter of a symbolic proposal but of a rather concrete one, which could be able to "europeanize" the problem of aggression from side of Belgrade and its attendants from Pale against an internationally recognized European state, which is the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

In his turn, Mr Papadopoulos said, that he considers this Radical Party's initiative as an important "political signal" to draw attention to the lack of the international involvement into the problem of war in Bosnia. "The appeal together with signatures will be carefully examined and delivered to the political leadership of European Union in Brussels," Mr Papadopoulos said.

In spite of the Ten-day Mobilization for Bosnia by Moscow Radicals is finished today, Radical Party continues campaign to collect signatures under appeal for adhesion of Bosnia-Herzegovina to the European Union.
