FREEDOM FOR TIBET. MORE THAN 550 EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN MAYORS WILL HOIST THE NATIONAL TIBETAN FLAG NEXT SUNDAY ON THEIR TOWN HALL AS A SIGN OF CONCRETE SOLIDARITY WITH THE TIBETAN PEOPLE.

Brussels, the 6th of March. Whereas the objective of 500 participations of European and American mayors has largely been exceeded in the campaign "a flag for Tibet", that will hoist the national Tibetan flag on the town halls as a sign of concrete solidarity with the tragedy of the Tibetan people, the pressure on the mayors has been multiplied in some European countries in order to renounce the engagement they have taken. On the other hand, in other countries the embargo of the mass media has been confirmed regarding every information on this campaign "a flag for Tibet" and on the first European demonstration "Freedom for Tibet" which will gather thousands of citizens from all over Europe in Brussels, next Sunday, the 10th of March.

This attitude of the European press is in perfect syntony with the one of the political European leadership, confirmed in a shameful way during the first Euro-Asiatic Summit meeting in Bangkok, just as with the one of the Chinese authorities who, as we learn from different sources, are organizing a massive telephone campaign through their embassies to recall "their good reasons".

This being said, the national Tibetan flag will wave on more than 550 European and American communities. Among whom 7 capitals: Brussels, Sarajevo, Rome, Budapest, Vilnius, Chisinau and Vaduz and cities as Montreal, Malaga, Strasbourg, Liverpool, Heidelberg, Berkeley, Guernica, Cracovie, Osijek, Hannover, Lubek,...
