LIBERTA PER IL TIBET. 9-10 MARZO 1997. SECONDA MANIFESTAZIONE EUROPEA PER LA LIBERTA DEL TIBET OCCUPATO. IL PROGRAMMA DEI DUE GIORNI.

Ginevra-Bruxelles, 7 marzo 1997. La campagna di preparazione del "Satyagraha per la libertà in Tibet", iniziativa nonviolenta mondiale per la libertà del Tibet occupato prevista per la primavera del 1988, raggiunge con le manifestazioni di Ginevra un alto momento di mobilitazione internazionale. A Ginevra domenica e lunedi prossimi, in occasione del 38.mo anniversario del sollevamento di Lhasa del 1959, migliaia di cittadini convergeranno da tutta Europa per chiedere l'apertura di negoziati tra il governo tibetano in esilio ed il governo cinese - come unica via per risolvere pacificamente la questione dell'occupazione e della colonizzazione del Tibet e della progressiva scomparsa del popolo tibetano che ne consegue.

La "due giorni" ginevrina è organizzata dalle Comunità tibetane europee, dal Coordinamento dei Tibet Support Group, dall'Intergruppo Tibet al PE, dal Partito Radicale transnazionale.

Anche in altre continenti si svolgeranno analoghe e coordinate manifestazioni per la libertà del Tibet: a Mosca, Canberra, New York e New Delhi.

Il programma (allegato) prevede la partecipazione di numerosi esponenti del mondo politico europeo. Per il Governo tibetano in esilio prenderà la parola Kalon Tashi Wangdi, ministro degli esteri. La dissidenza cinese in Europa parteciperà alla manifestazione con l'intera leadership. Interveranno tra gli altri: Tashi WANGDI, ministro degli Esteri del governo tibetano in esilio, WEI Shan Shan, sorella del dissidente cinese candidato a Premio Nobel per la Pace WEI Jingsheng, Emma BONINO, Commissaria europeo, James MOORHOUSE, Presidente dell'Intergruppo Tibet al Parlamento Europeo, Olivier DUPUIS, eurodeputato e segretario del Partito Radicale transnazionale.
