Dear colleague,

many Georgian (Armenian, Azeri) parliamentarians could know the transnational Radical Party, a cross-party organization, from 1992 to 1994, when we organized in the majority of the parliaments of the world, a big information campaign on our project as well as on some of the campaigns that we were launching.

During the last four years, in which we could only rarely get in touch with you to ask your support for some concrete initiatives, we have faced many difficulties, mainly financial ones linked to the high costs of our transnational project.

If up until today, the transnational project remains a draft project, we have been able to carry out some of our campaigns. For two of those, 1998 could be a very successful year: the creation, after years of struggle, of an International Criminal Court, and the establishment of a universal moratorium of capital executions.

But our victory is not granted. Both the abolitionist front and that of the countries in favor of an independent and effective international tribunal must be reinforced.

We are also currently involved in many other initiatives: the revision of the international conventions on narcotics, the support of an international language, the support of the Algerian authorities, the enjoyment of women's rights in Afghanistan, freedom and the rule of law in Cuba, and last but not least, freedom for Tibet and democracy in China that still need some thinking.

A very dense and tight agenda, which needs, in order to be successful, the support of a number of people triple than last year: 12,000 members that, in 1998, should make the Radical Party become their party.
