KOSOVA: EP ADOPTS A RESOLUTION THAT ASKS THE INDICTMENT OF PRESIDENT MILOSEVIC FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND WAR CRIMES. DECLARATION OF OLIVIER DUPUIS, SECRETARY OF THE RADICAL PARTY, MEP.
Strasbourg, 8 October, 1998. After a heated debate on the situation in Kosova between the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council, the EP has adopted today, Thursday Oct. 8, a resolution that asks the commitment of the Council and of the EU Member States to the incrimination of President Milosevic by the International Criminal Tribunal for the crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Declaration of Radical secretary Olivier Dupuis:
"In asking the incrimination for war crimes and crimes against humanity of Slobodan Milosevic, the European Parliament finally fill the political gap that so far has characterized the Commission, the Council and the EU Member States. In other words: there won't be any solution to the Kosova question until there won't be democracy in Belgrade. And there won't be any democracy in Belgrade until Milosevic won't be overthrown."
