Together with this letter I have enclosed copies of the two letters I have sent to my colleagues in the European Parliament in the course of the last few weeks, regarding the Nihoul-Dutroux Affair and the serious miscarriages and delays that have characterised the progress of the inquiries.

Although the information contained in the letters does not reveal anything new, it has so far not been reported on in detail - with a few notable exceptions - in the Belgian press.

In view of the information on organised rings involved in the abuse of minors which is gradually coming to light in others EU countries, especially in France, Great Britain and Portugal, I believe it is particularly important to return to the core of the problem.
