UN: WHILE THE MOBILISATION TO DEFEND ITS CONSULTATIVE STATUS AT THE UNITED NATIONS AT THE UNITED NATIONS CONTINUES, THE TRANSNATIONAL RADICAL PARTY PARTICIPATES IN THE 52ND SESSION OF THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON THE PROTECTION ON MINORITIES OF GENEVA.
Brussels, 8 August, 2000. After the conclusion of the second phase of the proceeding to defend its consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), triggered in May by some accusations of the Russian Federation regarding TRP alleged support to terrorists and collusion with drug-mafias, The Transnational Radical Party participates in the 52nd Sub-Commission on the promotion and protection of Human Rights.
In the next days, the TRP will address the UN body in Geneva with statements on: female genital mutilation (FGM), rights of the child, discrimination against gypsies, the right to asylum and freedom of movement. Among the members of the radical delegation there will also be Ms. Olajinka KOSO-THOMAS of Nigeria, leader of the international campaign on FGM.
