His Holiness' answer in Tibetan to a question about the resolve of Tibetans inside Tibet amounts to the first time in more than thirty years that he has spoken live, directly to the people of Tibet. Also broadcast live is his meeting onstage with Mrs. Gyaltong Tsering Drolgar, just back from the NGO Forum in Beijing, and his presentation of a ceremonial scarf to her in admiration for the Tibet exile delegates' efforts in Beijing. In the voiced-over commentary during parts of His Holiness' address in English, Tseten and Norbu report about the day's meeting at the White House-officially a meeting with the Vice President, with the President dropping in. This arrangement repeated the format of meetings in previous visits, but sticking to this arrangement was described by the ICT the previous day as disappointing and unprincipled behavior by the White House.
