BEIJING, Nov. 1, Asiainfo Services, Inc. -- The Swiss government will lend China 60 million Swiss francs ($53 million). The agreement was signed yesterday in Beijing between visiting Swiss Economic Minister Jean-Pascal Delamuraz and the Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Wu Yi.
Delamuraz said the loan will mainly be used for environmental protection projects in China and is expected to support technical cooperation between the two countries. According to Chinese customs, trade between the two countries registered a 87 per cent increase in 1993 and jumped 5 per cent last year to reach $1.43 billion.
