Bangalore, Nov 18 (PTI) Members of the Joint Action Committee of South Zone Tibetans, on behalf of over 35,000 Tibetan people residing in South India, staged a peaceful demonstration here today in protest against the illegal occupation and colonization of Tibet by the People's Republic of China. The Committee, in a Press release here, said the procession was also taken to draw the attention of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress in the matter, who are now in Bangalore on an official visit. The Committee alleged that Beijing had, with the objective of eradicating the distinct Tibetan race, been implementing an 'irreversible policy of demographic aggression - turning the Tibetan people into second class citizens in their own country.' There were over seven and a half million Chinese immigrants inside occupied Tibet as against the native population of over six million Tibetans, it said. Some of their demands included stopping illegal occupation and colonization of Tibet, an end to v
iolation of basic human rights in Tibet, immediate release of all Tibetan political prisoners and an end to 'the militarisation and nuclearisation' of Tibet.
