Text of report by the Czech news agency CTA

Prague, 11th December 1995: A demonstration to support Tibet's demands and to call for human rights to be respected there was held in Prague on Monday as dateline . The demonstration was held to mark the sixth anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to the Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama.

The demonstration, which was organized by a group of independent individuals, was aimed at drawing the Czech public's attention to the problems in Tibet while providing information about the situation in that country.

A representative of the organizers, Lenka Cabalova, told CTA the group wants the Chinese government to immediately stop all settling of Chinese inhabitants in Tibet, to stop destroying and interfering in Tibetan culture and religion and to start respecting the human rights of Tibetans.

The group is also calling on the United Nations to solve the situation in Tibet. Cabalova spent some time in Tibetan Dharmsala, the seat of the Dalai Lama and the exiled Tibetan government. She said she met the Dalai Lama several times.

Olga Cechurova of the Transnational Radical Party said this party is preparing a global satyagraha for next year, i.e. a non-violent civic fight for Tibetan rights.

Several dozen people signed a petition titled Freedom for Tibet which was addressed to the UN general secretary and the Chinese embassy in Prague.
