The meeting on party building work of [Qinghai] provincial-level organs was held in Xining on 28th December. In line with the guidelines of the fourth plenary session of the eighth provincial party committee, the meeting made arrangements for the 1996 party building work of provincial-level organs, and commended 11 outstanding full-time cadres in charge of the work of partyorganizations of provincial-level organs, including Han Zhenhua[phonetic].

Yin Kesheng, Wang Hanmin and Li Mingjin, and responsible comrades of the propaganda department of the provincial party committee,provincial discipline inspection commission and the party school of the provincial party committee attended the meeting...

Li Mingjin, director of the propaganda department of the provincial party committee, addressed the meeting. He expressed the hope that the various departments of the provincial party committee and the party groups and party committees of various provincial-level organs and units would pay attention to and support party building work, conscientiously strengthen guidance for party organizations of the provincial-level organs, persist in taking a two-handed approach in work, uphold the principle of running the party strictly, realistically attach great importance to the party building work of organs, always listen to briefings given by the party organizations of various organs and promptly study their party building work. It is necessary to vigorously support the party organizations of organs to assist the organization and personnel departments to successfully assess and democratically evaluate office cadres and to select and appoint office cadres, strengthen the installation of cadres incharge of the party aff

Li Tieying attended a meeting of the conference on economic restructuring, which opened in Beijing on 17th December. Zhang Haoruo, vice-minister of the State Economic Restructuring Commission,spoke at the meeting...

Li Tieying, member of the Political Bureau of the CCP CentralCommittee, Ding Guangen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee and head of the Propaganda Department of the CCP Central Committee, Liu Zhongde, minister of Culture, and Sun Jiazheng, minister of radio, film and television were among those attending a New Year's concert staged bythe Central Opera Theatre of China in Beijing on 23rd December. Chinese artists performed repertoire musical pieces from the world-renowned Vienna New Year's concert such as "Voices of Spring"and the "Thunder and Lightning" , as well as the chorus from "Aida" , the overture from "Poet and Peasant" and a number of Chinese melodies...

The concert, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, was televised live by China Central Television...

VARIOUS LEADERS AT FIVE-YEAR PLAN MEETINGS..

The Tibet CCP Standing Committee on 23rd December held an enlarged meeting to study and discuss the Ninth Five-Year Plan for Tibet and draft an outline for long-term targets for 2010. Tibet CCP Secretary Chen Kuiyuan presided over the meeting. Tibet Government Chairman and Party Executive Deputy Secretary Gyaincain Norbu, party deputy secretaries Basang, Danzim, Yang Chuantang and Lieque, and other eaders were present.
