Reuters reports that the Indian government will beef up the Dalai Lama's security in the Himalayan town of Dharamsala following the arrest of three people suspected of trying to spy on him. New security measures will include a concrete wall around the Dalai Lama's compound in Dharamsala and a bulletproof car. Further measures will include an X-ray baggage scanner, metal detectors on doors, and improved lighting. Drivers for the Dalai Lama have been sent for a course in defensive driving. The Indian Express reports that police arrested three Tibetans, two of whom spent several years in the Chinese Liberation Army, who were allegedly sent to spy on the Dalai Lama, a charge denied by China's foreign ministry according to Xinhua news agency.
