New York, 29 January 1996. The Governor of the State of MASSACHUSETTS, William F. Weld, has officially declared the day of the coming March 10th, as "Tibet Day".
In the solemn proclamation, deliberated on this past December 6th but received only today, the Governor declares that the day of March 10 "pays tribute to the more than one million Tibetans who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom, liberty and justice", underlines the importance of Tibetan art and culture, and invites all the citizens of MASSACHUSETTS to join the Tibetan people in remembering that date.
Governor Feld's proclamation follows an initiative of the Transnational Radical Party towards the 50 American States so that they may adhere to the "Save Tibet" campaign to declare March 10th "Tibet Day". Another six States: Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota and Vermont have responded to the letter of the secretary of the Transnational Radical Party, Olivier Dupuis, explaining the formal procedures to request a proclamation.
