To the Editor:
A. M. Rosenthal (column, Feb. 6) says, "I do not hear American university students or professors mobilizing against Chinese Communist cruelties." He should listen more carefully.
Students for a Free Tibet is a nationwide organization with more than 80 campus chapters. We are working on a divestment campaign focusing on companies that are members of the U.S.-China Business Council, which was instrumental in pressuring Washington to separate human rights from most-favored-nation status for China.
Human rights abuses in China and Tibet have worsened. We are trying to get our universities to divest from companies doing business with China, which has occupied Tibet for 40 years.
