Han Dongfang, Chinese labour activist, to speak in Toronto, February 22
The China Human Rights Group and the Toronto Association for Democracy in China are pleased to sponsor a presentation by HAN DONGFANG, a founding member of the Beijing Workers' Autonomous Federation, the first independent labour organization in the People's Republic of China.
Arrested as a result of his pro-democracy demonstrations in Tiananmen Square in 1989, Mr. Han was held without trial for 22 months. Currently the founding editor of the China Labour Bulletin in Hong Kong, he was the recipient, in 1993, of the Democracy Award from the National Endowment for Democracy.
