Submitted by: Yeshi About 15 Tibetans along with 70 friends of Tibet observed the 37th Tibetan Uprising Day organized by the Tibetan community with support from Amnesty International chapters of Smith college and Hampshire college.
The peaceful march in the city of Northampton began with a candle light vigil and prayers for the Tibetans who gave their lives for freedom. A video film: "Tibet: A Cultural History" was shown in the Wright Hall, Smith college as a part of the observation. Mount Holyoke College hung a Tibetan national flag and declared March 10 as the Tibet Day. Hampshire college hoists a Tibetan national flag on campus for a week to observe the Tibetan uprising day. In addition, a class on Human Rights and Anthropology showed "Satya" on March 12 to discuss human rights in Tibet.
