MAHAKALA.IRON DREAMS, a play about Tibet, opens Saturday, April 6, 1996 at The Wellington Space at 7 Stewart Street in Toronto. The theatre is located one block south of King Street and a half block east of Bathurst. The play runs from April 6 to April 21, with performances Tuesday through Saturday evening ($10 to $12) with a 2:30 matinee on sundays which is Pay-What-You-Can.
There have been many Tibetan advisors, chief amongst them being Losang Rabgey, Phuntsok and Tsering Rabgey, Losang Khedup, Dondup Cummins, Sonam Tobgyal Rinpoche, many members of Chushi Gangdruk, the Canada Tibet Committee, Shakya Dorje, and many, many others.
Money for the project was raised privately by Base Camp Theatre, with donations from Tibet supporters, Dharma students and friends. (The fund raising continues with tax deductible receipts available and for those giving more than $130,acknowledgement with a beautiful sculpture of Vajrapani modelled in great detail in the traditional Tibetan style by sculptor, Martin Sheiner. A portion of all donations will be given to the Karma Kagyu and Pema Vajra centres in Toronto.)
