FULL TEXT OF SINO-NEPALESE JOINT COMMUNIQUE

BEIJING (April 22) XINHUA - China and Nepal will issue a joint communique tomorrow following the visit of Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's visit to China. The full text of the communique is as follows:

At the invitation of H.E. Li Peng, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Rt. Hon'ble Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Nepal, paid an official goodwill visit to the People's Republic of China from April 17 to 23, 1996. Prime Minister Deuba was accompanied by Mrs. Arzu Deuba, Hon. Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Buddhi Man Tamang, Minister for Land Reform and Management, Hon. Sharad Singh Bhandari, Minister of State, Hon. Shanti Shumsher J.B. Rana, Assistant Minister for Housing and Physical Planning, Members of Parliament, senior officials of His Majesty's Government and a group of businessmen and industrialists. During the visit, President Jiang Zemin of the People's Republic of China met with Prime Minister Deuba. Premier Li Peng and Prime Minister Deuba held talks in a friendly atmosphere. Prime Minister Deuba and his party also visited Beijing, Xi'an and Shenzhen, touring industrial and agricultural projects and sites of historic

al interest.

Leaders of the two countries reviewed with satisfaction the steady progress made in bilateral relations on the basis of the Five-Principles of Peaceful Co-existence and agreed to further enhance the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the economic, trade, cultural and educational and other fields. The two sides signed the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and His Majesty's Government of Nepal, the Agreement Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Nepal on the Consultation Mechanism and the Agreement on the Establishment of Non-governmental Cooperation Forum.

Premier Li Peng expressed appreciation for the consistent policy of the government of the Kingdom of Nepal on the Tibet and Taiwan question. Prime Minister Deuba reaffirmed the firm stand of the Nepalese Government that Tibet and Taiwan are inalienable parts of the People's Republic of China, and promised not to permit anyone to use Nepalese territory for activities harmful to China's sovereignty and unification.
