The Tibetan Freedom Concert will be held in San Francisco, June 15 Saturday and 16 Sunday, 1996. Ticket for the Concert are on sale now. Call 1-800-225-BASS (they are going fast, 42,000 tickets were sold in the first two days).
Milarepa Fund, a non-profit Foundation based in San Francisco was founded in 1994, to establish and promote universal compassion through music. While the primary focus of its work is Tibet, the organization also works with youth organizations in the U.S.
The Tibetan Freedom Concert will draw a large audience who can be educated about Tibet. If it sells out there will be at least fifty thousand people in attendence per day. There will be twenty one bands who will perform over the span of the two days. The bands are: Beastie Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins, John Lee Hooker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fugees, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, Richie Havens, Yoko Ono/IMA, Buddy Guy and Chaksam-pa and others. The whole town, radios and newpaper are all talking about this concert these days.
As you know, summer in San Francisco is a beautiful time and tourists from around the world visit this city. We are sure that Tibetans and Tibetan friends in your community would like to take this opportunity to visit the city by the bay, coinciding with this historic event for our country.
We need need as many Tibetans to be at the concert to pass information and be liaison person.. The volunteers are offered free admission.
