CHINA, May 24, AsiaInfo Services, Inc -- An official from the China National Petroleum & Natural Gas Corp. revealed that China is planning to offer a batch of new opened areas for foreign petroleum companies. In it, risk exploration and exploitation cooperation in the new areas will be mainly conducted in the west, the Songliao Plain and the deep layer of the Bohai sea; Exploitation cooperation of unused reserves will be conducted mainly in the old oil fields in the east and the surrounding regions; Natural gas exploration and exploitation cooperation will be mainly conducted in Sichuan, the Qaidam Basin and the Tarim Basin. It is planned to introduce US$ 2 billion in foreign investment in five years, and major efforts will be made to form a certain production capacity on the basis of petroleum and natural gas discovered.
