In a statement it published today [27th May 96], the Chinese embassy in Finland regretted the meetings the spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, had with Finnish Environmental Minister Pekka Haavisto, provincial governor [of Lapland] Hannele Pokka and provincial governor [of the Haeme province in Central Finland] Kaarina Suonio. Haavisto and the provincial governors met the Dalai Lama in Enontekioe [in Finnish Lapland] yesterday [26th May 96].
