KATHMANDU (June 7) XINHUA - Nepali Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deupa said today that his country will never allow a visit by the Dalai Lama. The prime minister made the remark when meeting a delegation from China's Xinhua News Agency headed by Vice-President Gao Qiufu.
Deupa also reaffirmed that his government will not allow foreigners to use Nepalese territory to carry out actions that would harm countries friendly to Nepal.
"The Dalai Lama's visit to Nepal is out of the question," he said. At a separate meeting with the Xinhua delegation today, Foreign Minister Prakash Chandra Lohani also promised that Nepal would not do anything that may hurt the national interests of China.
The Himalayan kingdom borders on China's Tibet Autonomous Region. There is a Tibetan community in its capital Kathmandu.
