Mr. Neumann, head of the Bundestag committee to investigate the human-rights situation in China has announced that the Chinese government has cancelled the visit of members of the committee in early July. The official reason for the cancellation was scheduling problems. Neumann, however, assumes the cancellation is a consequence of the Bundestag's attitude to the human-rights situation in Tibet. This Saturday, a Tibet conference will take place on the parliament's premises. The spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, will attend the meeting.
