ICT President Lodi G. Gyari and Ven. Palden Gyatso, a Tibetan monk who suffered imprisonment in Tibet for 33 years, are among those testifying before a congressional briefing on human rights in Tibet on June 25, 1996 at 2 p.m in the Cannon House Office Building. The briefing is being organised by the Congressional Working Group on China (chaired by Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi) and the Congressional Human Rights Caucus (co-chaired by Congressmen John Porter and Tom Lantos) to bring attention to the tragic situation in Tibet.
Others testifying at the briefing include Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, Robert Thurman from Columbia Univesity, representatives of Sierra Club, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch/Asia. Some members of Congress are expected to make statements.
