An article in the June 8 edition of the Gazette stated that Canada's long standing position is to accept Chinese sovereignty over Tibet. In fact, while Canada recognizes the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China, it takes no position with regard to Chinese territorial claims; it neither challenges nor endorses them.
