LHASA (July 26) XINHUA - The first-aid sector will be improved and modernized in major areas of the Tibet Autonomous Region, thanks to monetary and personnel assistance from the Italian government.
A group of Italian first-aid experts have started a three-year training program at the Tibet First-Aid Center in Lhasa. Medics from hospitals in Lhasa and four prefectures are receiving comprehensive training at the center in disease diagnosis and emergency medical treatment.
Five local doctors from Tibet also will participate in three-month training sessions at Italian medical institutions and hospitals. The Italian governments has agreed to provide 2.5 US dollars-worth of medical equipment to the Tibet First-Aid Center and four first-aid stations in Xigaze, Shannan, Nagqu and Nyingchi prefectures.
Meanwhile, the Chinese government will be responsible for constructing facilities and transporting foreign equipment. Enditem
