XINING (July 25) XINHUA - The mother of the 10th Panchen Lama met on Wednesday evening with Li Ruihuan, Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Committee (CPPCC), who expressed his deep regards for her son and wished her a long life.

Li, also a member of the standing committee of the Communist Party's Political Bureau, is touring Qinghai Province in northwest China.

He said that the late 10th Panchen Lama, who was a close friend of President Jiang Zemin and many other senior officials, left a lasting impression in people's mind both for his patriotism and his cooperation with the central government.

"We always miss him, and believe that his devotion to the country and religion will be carried on by the 11th Panchen and the Tibetan Buddhism circle," Li said.

The mother of the 10th Panchen Lama, Yobxi Soinam Zhoima, who is also the vice-chairwoman of the Tibet Automonous Regional Committee of the CPPCC, expressed her gratitude to both the central government and local leaders for their special care of her.

She said she wishes the 11th Panchen, who is believed to be a reincarnation of the late Panchen, will grow up healthy with the caring consideration from the central government.
