His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be arriving in New Zealand on 10th September 1996 for 3 and half day tour of New Zealand.
Last few months I have been campaigning the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Well, you'll be happy to know that on 11th September 1996 at 10 am the Foreign Minister Hon Don McKinnon will be Meeting with His Holiness at the Foreign Ministers Offic in the Parliament. This will be followed by a meeting with the members of Parliamentary Lobby Group for Tibet at 10.30 am at the office of the chairman of the PLG for Tibet Mr. Ian Revell MP. His Holiness will be back in the Parliament again at 4.15 pm to meet the Rt Hon Jim Bolger the Prime Minister. Following the meeting with the Prime Minister His Holiness will be attending a reception hosted by the chairman of the LPG for Tibet Mr Ian Revell MP, who has issued special invitation to all 99 New Zealand MPs'.
His Holiness will deliver public lectures at the following

CHRISTCHURCH Thursday 12 September at 5.00pm Christchurch

AUCKLAND Saturday 14 September at 11.00am Ellerslie Race

While His Holiness in Auckland on Friday evening the 13 September, the Leader of Oposition Ms Helen Clark will be meeting with His Holiness at 7.00pm. His Holiness flies out of Auckland on 14 September at 3.45pm
During His Holiness tour of New Zealand, the Amnesty International and Friends of Tibet (NZ) will be holding a special meeting of Civic and Religious leaders with His Holiness and we hope to present a letter signed by all those who attended the meeting to all the verious Political Leaders in New Zealand on the issue of freedom of Religion and Human Right abuses in Tibet.
Friends of Tibet (NZ) will start a Nation wide Petition during His Holiness tour of New Zealand, calling for New Zealand Government to facilitate negotiations between the Peoples Republic of China and His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Representative, without any preconditions, to find a Peacful solution for the future of Tibet. (this is in line with the resolution adopted at TSG conference in Bonn, Germany this year) I'll let you know when we present this petition to the NZ Government.
I will be accompanying His Holiness during His tour of New Zealand and will give you my written report at the end of the tour. Till then, please keep up the good work, that all TSG members are doing arround the world on the issue of Tibet.
