49TH UN NGO CONFERENCE:

The forty-ninth Annual Non-Governmental Conference organized by the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI),in cooperation with the Executive Committee of Non-Governmental Organizations associated with DPI, will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from Tuesday 10 September to Thursday 12 September 1996.

The theme for this year's Conference is "The United Nations: Pacing the Challenges of a Changing World", focusing on the results of the deliberation of five high-level Working Groups of the General Assembly and their recommendations. The Conference will highlight the partnership between the UN and civil society, leading to the strengthening of the UN.
