Dharamsala September 13- Even as the campaign for the release of the Tibetan refugee-musician detained by China last year has picked up all over the world, the Chinese authorities are reportedly treating the case with greater concern and have moved him from Shigatse to a notorious prison in Lhasa.
According to information available at the Tibetan government headquarters, the Tibetan music teacher, Ngawang Choephel, a member of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), Dharamsala, was arrested in Shigatse in September last year, while he was recording folk music there. The reasons of his imprisonment are still unknown.
The Director of TIPA here, Jamyang Dorjee, said Ngawang had gone on the prestigious Full Bright Scholarship to Middle Bury College from 1994 to 1995, from where he had left for Tibet on an assignment.
