MELBOURNE, Sept 15 AAP - The world's great religions must work together, Tibetan Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama told a crowd of about 6,000 in Melbourne today.

Flanked by security guards and monks in saffin spite of freezing winds that lashed tpment. Cross-legged on stage, his message to the crowd was one of tolerance, versity and peace.

Religions had an important role on this plmportant than belief was to have a good heart and be kind to others, he told the crowd.

"Harmony amongst religious traditions is really very important," he said.
