Hello All

Concerning the fasting dialogue with South African foreign affairs. We have issued them with a request that the government make a statement regarding the Panchen Lama and Wei Jingsheng. Later this week we meet to deliver a petition document that they can distribute amongst themselves to sign, which will be sent back to me and on to the Transradical Party for documentation. I am hoping for a positive feedback.

We have also requested that President Mandela meet with a small delegation of us to discuss his stand on the issue of Tibet. This is presently being looked into.

There are two of us fasting between 29th of Sept. and 2 Oct. Unfortunately, mainland China has no embassy hereabouts so we have nowhere to 'sit' and make a scene. Due to the tense situation with the Truth Commission taking place throughout S.A now, the media is not particularly interested in our activity. This was to be expected. We decided to fast for solidarity anyway.

For those interested, we are distributing photographs of HHDL and Mandela at their historical meeting in Cape Town, aswell as HHDL and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Please contact me through e-mail or fax regarding practicalities.
