PARIS, Oct 16 (AFP) - The Dalai Lama, Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, will meet on October 30 with study groups on his country represented in both houses of France's parliament, parliament sources said here Wednesday.
The Dalai Lama will meet with French members of the Senate and deputies in the National Assembly, Louis de Broissia, the head of the assembly's group on Tibet, said.
The Tibetan leader will be given a "call by French parliamentarians on behalf of Tibet," signed by 245 deputies belonging to different political factions in French parliament, De Broissia said.
Tibet was occupied by Chinese communist troops in 1950. A series of revolts and an armed uprising in 1959 were crushed and Beijing has declared Tibet an "autonomous province", but an integral part of Chinese territory.
Most Tibetans consider that the exiled Dalai Lama is their god-king. He fled the country to India after the insurrection of 1959 was crushed.
