Published by World Tibet Network News - Tuesday, October 22, 1996BONN, Oct 21 (AFP) - German President Roman Herzog will make a week-long official visit to China next month, the presidency announced here Monday.
The trip from November 18 to 25 had been long in the planning, but no date had been set until now because of tension between the two countries, mainly over Tibet.
German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel is currently in China for a visit that was originally planned for July, but was postponed by Beijing after the German parliament criticised human rights violations in Tibet, which is run by China.
The invitation to Herzog came from his Chinese counterpart Jiang Zemin.
