TIBETAN FILM FESTIVAL

November 1, 2, 3, 1996

The Canada Tibet Committee in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), will present a three day festival of Tibet films on November 1-3, 1996. The festival will feature the premier showing of the NFB's "Tibetan Book of Dead", French language version. The film's director, Jacques Languirand will introduce the film at the 9:30pm. showing, Friday, November 1.

Monks from the Gyuto Monastery in South India, currently visiting Montreal, will attend various showings during the festival and will be available for questions and answers.

Films being shown during the festival include: The Reincarnation of Khensur Rinpoche, Beyond the Forbidden Frontier, Compasssion in Exile: The Story of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibetan Medicine: A Buddhist Approach to Healing, A Song for Tibet, Satya, Escape from Tibet and The Tibetan Book of the Dead. The films have been chosen to represent the full cycle of Tibetan life, from daily spiritual practices, art, medicine, philosophy, to death and reincarnation.

TIBETAN BAZAAR - Fun for the whole family!

The annual Tibetan Bazaar is organized by the Canada Tibet Committee and the Tibetan Cultural Association of Quebec. The annual event features the sale of Tibetan t-shirts, handicrafts and books as well as traditional Tibetan food. There will be three performances of Tibetan folk music and dance at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. Special guest performer - Dhondup the Yak!!

Also, have your name written in Tibetan script by an expert calligrapher, collect information about the current situation in Tibet and sign up for the December boycott of goods made in China.
