"On human rights I raised the full range of our concerns, including the treatment of those who express their view peacefully, along with raising the situation in Tibet," Christopher told a media conference after meeting with his counterpart, Qian Qichen, as well as Premier Li Peng and President Jiang Zemin.
"I did raise the question (of Wang Dan)... and I brought up human rights in all three meetings I had today," he added.
Wang Dan was sentenced to 11 years in jail last month for plotting to overthrow the government, while authorities in Tibet have recently launched a crackdown to wipe out all traces of the Dalai Lama, the region's spiritual leader in exile.
"Of course the United States and China continue to have areas of difference, which we discussed today openly and candidly," Christopher said.
US State Department spokesman Nicholas Burns said Tuesday that disagreements on particular issues within the Sino-US relationship would not cause the derailment of the entire relationship.
