The stupa, which finds mention in the travelogues of Chinese scholar Hieun Tsang and various historians of yore, had been lying virtually unknown in the remote Bhagwanganj village in Patna District until the survey team, tracing the Buddhist paths of the Maurya period, chanced upon it.
