Published by World Tibet Network News - Monday, January 20, 1997BEIJING, Jan 20 (Reuter) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the open-ended Richter scale shook a remote corner of China's Tibetan region on Monday, the official Xinhua news agency said.
The quake was centred in the Naqu region, about 600 km (360 miles) northwest of the regional capital, Lhasa.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage and the mountainous region is thinly populated.
