Dear TSGers,
I wanted to update you on our progress with the "March for Tibet's Independence." Thus far, the following people are committed to walking:
1. Thubten Jigme Norbu
2. Bhante (who will be with us in Toronto, most university presentations, & NYC)
3. Three Tibetans from Toronto
4. One Tibetan from New York City
5. One Tibetan from Santa Fe, New Mexico
6. One Tibetan from Austin, Texas
7. One Eastern Turkistani
8. One Taiwanese for 1/3 of the walk
9. Five Westerners
We are still looking to have a Monk &/or Nun join us from anywhere around the world. If necessary, we are willing to raise funds to bring such an individual(s) to North America.
Once again, WHY ARE WE WALKING?
Because Tibet Belongs to Tibetans
Tibet is Illegally Occupied
To Release Gendhun Choekyi Nyima
To Educate the Public About The PRC
To Promote Boycotting China's Goods
For the Tibetans in Tibet
We are very encouraged by the number of organizations that have now agreed to co-sponsor the walk. They include:

Canada Tibet Committee

Given the response we have received thus far, we have decided to wait until Sunday, January 26th, before we go to press with a brochure that announces the walk to the general public. If there are any other TSGs that want, at this time, to co-sponsor the walk, please let me know by this Sunday.
Thanks to all of you that are supporting & promoting the "1997 March for Tibet's Independence." There are only six weeks remaining before we begin our journey from The PRC Consulate in Toronto.
Peace,
Larry Gerstein
