The parliament also urged Beijing to give an official and positive response to the Dalai Lama's proposals, made Monday on the 38th anniversary of the failed uprising against Chinese rule.
Condemning continued human rights violations by the Chinese authorities in Tibet, the parliament called on European Union member states to have the question of "the occupation of Tibet and its decolonisation" on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly.
Thursday's resolution is almost guaranteed to anger China, which accuses the Dalai Lama of counter-revolution and attempting to "split the motherland."
