TAIPEI, March 25 (AFP) - Taiwan Vice President and Premier Lien Chan is to meet Tibetan spiritural leader the Dalai Lama Wednesday at his Taipei hotel, a cabinet official said Tuesday.
"Premier Lien is to visit the Dalai Lama after attending the Golden Bell award (for television programs) Wednesday evening," an official from the Government Information Office told AFP.
The Tibetan god-king is to conduct an "initiation ceremony" at the Taoyuan domed stadium south of Taipei on Wednesday and visit a Buddhist research institute before returning to the Howard Plaza Hotel.
The United Evening News said Lien might discuss details of the meeting between the Dalai Lama and Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui scheduled for the following day.
Lee and the Dalai Lama have said they would only talk about religion and spirituality.
