TIBET UNIVERSITY TEACHES STUDENTS TO FIGHT SEPARATISM
Published by World Tibet Network News - Sunday - April 20, 1997

April 17, 1997 - Lhasa Tibet People's Radio Network

An important issue confronted in the building of a spiritual civilization in Tibet is how to further rid the Dalai's influence in the spiritual area.

In view of the current mental state of teachers and students, the party committee of Tibet University has stepped up efforts to intensify the struggle against separatist activities. It has worked out a plan to conduct education against separatist activities in a systematic way within the university from the middle of April to the middle of June this year. Through lectures on special topics, the study of theories, and discussions of special topics, the university intends to guide students to improve their understanding and enhance consciousness of safeguarding the unification of the motherland and ethnic unity.

On 10 April, (Shen Kaiyun), deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Tibet regional party committee, was invited by the Tibet University to speak to the university's teachers and students. His report was entitled "Get a Clear Understanding of the Essence of the Dalai Clique and Resolutely Carry Out a Struggle against Separatist Activities."

By citing convincing facts, he proved that Tibet is an inalienable part of the motherland. He also exposed the shameless features of the supporters of Tibet independence and Taiwan independence for colluding with one another. The report evoked a strong response among the teachers and students.

At a forum, teacher and student representatives angrily denounced the Dalai clique's perverse acts of plotting to divide the motherland. In their speeches, Dawadunzhu, chairman of Tibet University's Students Association and a student of the Department of Politics, and Luosangpuchi and Luosangqunpei, students from the Department of Tibetan language, said our struggle against the Dalai clique is not a matter of religion or self-government, but a political struggle to safeguard the unification of the motherland, oppose national splittism, and consolidate the achievements scored in the democratic reform, the current reform, and the opening to the outside world.

This struggle is the continuation of the past struggle against splittism. After suffering several defeats in its political plots to divide the motherland, the Dalai clique is now colluding with the Taiwan independence forces in an attempt to use each other in a bid to hamper and undermine the great cause of the peaceful reunification of the motherland. This shows once again that the Dalai is the head of the political clique plotting for the independence of Tibet and for separation from the motherland, is a faithful tool of the international anti-China forces, is the root cause of social turmoil in Tibet, and the greatest obstacle standing in the way of establishing a normal order for Tibetan Buddhism.

Li Tianxi, lecturer of the Department of Politics, and Zhao Maolin, political instructor for the Department of Mathematics and physics, said: The Dalai clique has been using the customary tactics of attempting to split the motherland under the signboard of religion. In the later part of March this year, the Dalai and his followers went to Taiwan to openly collude with the Taiwan independence forces under the signboard of religion in a bid to oppose the principle of one China and turn back the wheel of history. This further shows that the Dalai is no longer a religious leader, but a political chieftain engaging in splittism by taking advantage of religion. The ugly performance staged by the Dalai and the Taiwan independence forces harbors evil intentions which are known to all.

Liu Zhifu, vice president of Tibet University, and Zu Guangzi, assistant professor and director of the Propaganda Department of Tibet University, said: Realizing the reunification of the motherland accords with the will of the people and the general trend of events. Since the democratic reform, and particularly since the introduction of the reform and opening-up policy, tremendous changes have taken place in Tibet's economic and social development.

The people of Tibet highly value their happy life today and also long for a stable social environment. The collusion between the Dalai and the Taiwan independence forces in a plot to split the motherland runs counter to the will of the people and to the laws governing the social development in China. Their perverse acts fully reveal their inherent weakness. They think they are clever and have gotten the upper hand, but in fact, they are only lifting a rock to crush their own feet. They will finally end up with failure.
